Shoreham by Sea

The Buckingham Arms, Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex

01. The Brief

The project involved a substantial renovation of The Buckingham Arms in Shoreham, with the goal of revitalising the interior to create a warm, inviting, and contemporary environment. The design aimed to open up the internal layout while preserving the character of the traditional public house, delivering a refreshed social space that encourages comfort and connection.
The objective was to introduce an open-plan layout that enhances spatial flow and visibility throughout the venue. Bespoke banquette seating was incorporated to provide both intimacy and flexibility, supporting a range of social settings from casual gatherings to dining experiences. The design sought to harmonise modern finishes with the building’s heritage, ensuring a sense of authenticity alongside refined comfort.

Transforming a traditional pub layout into an open and cohesive space required careful structural and spatial planning.
