New Build at Foxbury Farm, Sussex

A striking conversion of a former agricultural structure, Foxbury Farm is now a modern family home nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside. With a strong focus on natural materials, open-plan living, and sustainable design, the project reimagines rural architecture for contemporary living.

01. The Brief

The goal was to transform a concrete portal frame building, originally used for agricultural purposes, into a spacious and light-filled family home.
The design needed to retain the essence of the original structure while creating a modern, functional space that reflected the client’s lifestyle and the rural setting.

02. Challenges & Considerations

The project required stripping the structure back to its core and reworking the layout from the ground up. One of the key challenges was maximising natural light within the existing framework, which was achieved through the addition of large windows and skylights.
Material choice was also crucial; timber cladding, natural stone and glass were carefully selected to complement the rural surroundings and create a warm, welcoming feel. Sustainability was another important factor, with eco-conscious features added to improve energy efficiency and reduce long-term running costs.

03. The Outcome

Foxbury Farm is now a beautiful open-plan home that combines thoughtful design with modern living. The spacious interiors include a large kitchen, dining and living area, and generously sized en-suite bedrooms, all designed to capture as much natural light as possible.
The use of high-quality materials and the integration of sustainable features ensure the home is both environmentally responsible and cost-effective to maintain. This project is a true reflection of our ability to take an unconventional starting point and deliver a home that is stylish, functional and built to last.
