The client’s vision was clear: replace the outdated conservatory with a fresh, contemporary extension that could be used comfortably throughout the seasons. They also wanted a stylish loft conversion, featuring a gable end, to create a spacious master suite with an elegant ensuite bathroom.
From the outset, the aim was to achieve a refined and modern look, defined by clean lines, hidden gutters, and large areas of glazing. This wasn’t just about aesthetics – the new space needed to be bright, welcoming and practical, tailored to the client’s lifestyle.
Key requirements included:
One of the main challenges was a structural post positioned between the planned bi-folding doors. This could have interrupted the clean flow between inside and outside – something the client was keen to avoid. We needed to find a way to support the structure without compromising the overall design.
The client also requested a space that stayed warm in winter and cool in summer – no easy task for a heavily glazed structure. Careful attention was paid to insulation, glazing specifications and thermal performance to ensure comfort throughout the year.
The finished extension is a stunning, modern space that completely transforms how the home is used. It’s a place for gathering, relaxing and enjoying the seasons as they change. In warmer months, bi-fold doors on two sides open wide to create a seamless link between indoors and out, with flush thresholds connecting to the garden patio.
A bespoke water feature brings a sense of calm to the garden, while the new external cladding and windows elevate the look of the home. The result is elegant, timeless and completely in tune with how the client wanted to live.

This project showcases how thoughtful design can transform a home – not just in how it looks, but in how it feels to live in.
